Three of the most powerful news organizations have been hiding the truth about a top story in order to advance their own agendas. Hear what CNN, the New York Times, and Reuters have been doing, in the latest episode of They Stand Corrected.
Like so many other topics I cover, this was brought to me by a longtime professional journalist who wishes to remain anonymous. (The source does not happen to be Jewish, and is among many who recognize the mainstream media’s antisemitism.) The analysis comes from the Combat Antisemitism Movement. It involves something I’ve reported on: the case of a pro-terror radical from Columbia University.
It finds that news agencies previously reported on the student group’s ties to terrorist organizations, but are now ignoring their own reporting in order to portray him, falsely, as a free speech hero. As I have discussed on the show, this reality does not erase due process concerns. Both must be explored. In this episode, I interview research and data manager Zach Schildcrout, who led the analysis. He explains:
“They almost gave the impression that this group was basically a bunch of peace activists who just want a ceasefire in Gaza. But if you actually do some digging and look at the statements that these groups put out, they are explicitly pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah, they support the Houthis, they also support the October 7th attack specifically and share essays for example, that call the attack a moral victory.”
In recent coverage, these news outlets magically forgot all that. It’s similar to a tactic employed by the Washington Post when it turned a movie review into an attempt at revisionist history.
I also mention previous episodes I’ve done about alleged death tolls from Gaza. And here is an excellent essay I refer to, “The Apartheid Lie,” by the fantastic South African activist Olga Meshoe Washington, who tragically died earlier this year.
