They Stand Corrected: The Presidents
What the media should learn about executive power, historic decisions, and the fight for democracy
Lincoln. Johnson. Kennedy. Carter. Reagan. Bush. Obama. All these presidents have made appearances on They Stand Corrected, because all have taken actions that the media must understand in order to recognize the moment we’re in now. Today, Presidents’ Day, would be a great time for news agencies to do some learning.
Take, for example, Johnson’s historic actions to ban discrimination in employment. Hear directly from him, in a classic recording that could not be any more relevant today in helping everyone understand their legal rights at work:
The latest episode includes sound from JFK in a powerful reminder of what the media should cover immediately about post-war reconstructions:
In Episode 3, I explained that the media awarded Trump a big political victory he hadn’t earned. Major news organizations falsely reported that he had reversed a decades-long U.S. position involving Israel and a stretch of land known in parts of the world as “the West Bank” (because Jordan occupied it). Taking you through the reality of presidents going back to Carter, I showed that the international law claim was untrue.
And, of course, there are the presidential “debates,” in which “journalists” sit there while the candidates lie — a giant, gaping hole in the media that politicians of all parties have walked through…
… but none as bigly as Trump. Yes, far more than Biden (Episode 13). All politicians lie, but pretending Trump and Biden lied equally would be both-sidesism.
The media throws around the word “historic" without understanding history. They Stand Corrected is filling the gap. Join our growing ranks of paid subscribers supporting the fight for truth in journalism!

And speaking of presidents, it will still be months before we really know why Trump won in 2024.
