October 7th: What the media doesn't tell you
Everything Israel faced that day is spreading worldwide, endangering democracies.
Today marks the second anniversary of the biggest terrorist massacre per capita in modern times.
The mainstream media has presented October 7th, and the war ever since, with blinders on. By ignoring the big picture, it has convinced billions of people to believe in a false reality.
October 7th, 2023, was a story of mass terror, mass rape, and mass killing. Unimaginable torture. Body parts as trophies. But it was also a story of bicycles, musical instruments, and kites. Compassion, hope, and survival.
And it was a story of the biggest threat to democracies. That threat isn’t as far away as it may seem. Everything Israel faced that day, including the forces behind it and the hate movement that led to it, is spreading around the world. To prevent the next October 7th anywhere, we have to understand it.
This special episode starts in a place that may surprise you: the Sinjar Mountains of Iraq. Then we jump to Australia and Nigeria. We also visit the United Kingdom and the United States. You’ll hear why.
I visited Kfar Aza, a beautiful kibbutz in southern Israel that was filled with peaceniks trying to help Gazans in all sorts of ways. October 7th was supposed to be an annual festival to send messages of peace and love across the border. The terrorists who showed up killed the family in charge of that effort, along with so many others.
I met saxophonist Erez Yatzkan, whose arms were blown off. He has had more than a dozen surgeries since. He shares his story in this episode. (Beware if you watch this video: there is some graphic imagery in it.)
In the coming days, I’ll share more details and images with you. I don’t want to inundate you with everything at once.
How you can help
The heroes of United Hatzalah (“United Rescue”) saved lives that day. Eight thousand volunteers respond to more than 2,000 daily calls. They’re from all backgrounds, as are those whom they save. All they ask of you is that you learn more about them by signing up here.
October 7th, 2023, was a holy day meant to be joyous. The terrorists knew this, and chose the day on purpose. Now there’s an effort to help Jewish people reclaim the day. Join the “Simchat Torah Challenge.” It’s “the world’s oldest book club,” and takes only 15 minutes a week.
Thanks to sponsorships, your doing these things will help support They Stand Corrected for a limited time.
In case you’re new to the show, here’s a speech I gave last year on this anniversary.
Share your thoughts, questions, feedback, and more. As always, supporters can do so here; everyone else can find a form at my website.
Am Yisrael Chai.
