Nurses warn: 'People will suffer and die' due to the 'beautiful' bill
Plus wakeup calls to the media about GOP Blue Jays and Mamdani imperiling democracy

Each day, more potential dangers of the “One Big Beautiful Act” come to light. Among those sounding the alarms is National Nurses United, the profession’s biggest union:
“Nurses across the United States believe the legislation is likely to be remembered as one of history’s most harmful, least popular, and deadliest laws that steals from everyday people and overwhelmingly benefits billionaires. This is among the darkest days in the history of U.S. health care. People will suffer and die because of the cuts in this legislation.”
At They Stand Corrected, I’m piecing through the law and the reporting about it to sift fact from fiction. This much is clear: Nurses are already facing a crisis — and everyone, across the political spectrum, should listen to them. Sponsor Nurses United for Healthcare Integrity has begun unveiling unknown, powerful stories from inside hospitals.

The group is inviting people to share their stories as well.
Trump and GOP lawmakers keep insisting that new trade deals will somehow magically cause huge sums of money to flood into the United States. Serious question: Do they know how much the federal government relies on tax dollars — and how much they’re lose by lowering rates for the uber rich?
