Happy 4th!
The USA tops a list, Parks and Rec, where your $ is going, and patriotic music you've probably never heard
What has approximately 700 million thumbs and tops this list of the world’s longest standing democracies?
OK, there’s some dispute over whether the U.S. is the longest standing or one of them. Either way, we’re way up there.
On July 4th, that’s something big for Americans to celebrate. So many people take democracy for granted, and every country that has it is at risk of losing it. Democracy is declining globally as authoritarianism rises, according to the Democracy Index.

The good news
But those of us who get it, who are committed to standing for democracy, can strengthen it. That starts with truth. Because you can only fix a problem based on what’s actually going wrong.
The media is failing. But They Stand Corrected is here to make sure you get the two ingredients of truth: facts + context.
You pay taxes, and deserve to know where your money goes. Congress is currently working on MASSIVE changes. USAFacts launched a one-stop portal to help you understand. Thanks to a sponsored partnership, your click at this unique link will help support this show. 🇺🇸
Patriotic music you’ve never heard
In this week’s episode, I share some patriotic music you’ve likely never heard. Two songs, about a century apart, that speak to the same theme. Plus, a very cool and catchy “hero” song is in this episode as well.
About 72 million Americans are expected to travel throughout this holiday weekend. So whether you’re in a car, sitting on a plane or train, or sneaking onto Jeff Bezos’ (disturbingly ostentatious and wasteful) superyacht, you can catch up on episodes here:
To all who support democracy, Happy 4th. 🇺🇸🗽🎇
