Giving Tuesday: Why I’m skipping the Red Cross for this interfaith life-saving group

If anything can build a more peaceful world, it’s groups like this.

In fact checking the news, I see how lost and misguided legacy media have become. Guided by false, simplistic narratives and an obsession with casting certain groups as eternal victims, the media spins stories every day. But reality is far more interesting.

Just as humans fight and kill, we also support and love each other. And some actual victims reject building their identities around victimhood, instead focusing on how to move forward with hope and optimism.

Some organizations are truly exceptional in these same ways. Unlike the disastrous Red Cross and UNRWA, these groups fight to achieve good things even in the toughest conditions. People should know about these groups. Across the world, they seed a way of thinking that humanity needs more of. They show entire regions what’s possible. The ripple effects are global.

If anything can build a more peaceful world, it’s groups like this. That’s why I’m psyched to partner with United Rescue (“Hatzalah”) for a limited time. In this last month of the year, a huge portion of Americans do their charitable giving. Billions are spent today, Giving Tuesday. I encourage you to consider joining me in supporting them, a registered 501(c)(3).

Support United Rescue ("Hatzalah")

This is not just a high-minded concept—it’s reality. Thousands of volunteers, from all backgrounds and religions, work together successfully to save lives 24/7 in Israel. When I was there earlier this year, my taxi driver Mohammed told me he doubles as a volunteer ambulance driver for UH, often using his cab to transport people in need.

Thanks to a sponsorship, for the first 350 people who sign up to get more information from this group — whether you contribute or not — a small contribution will be made to help support They Stand Corrected.

Giving Tuesday is about “radical generosity” in many forms. If you find value in fact checking the news, consider supporting They Stand Corrected directly by becoming a paid subscriber. The Black Friday discounted rates last one week!

Paid subscribers get first dibs in determining which stories I fact check. Why spend hours trying to siphon fact from fiction in the news when I can do it for you? Plus, searchable, hyperlinked transcripts; ways to save money, and more.

🎧 A new episode is coming out tomorrow, addressing the mess the media has made in coverage of the horrible shooting of two National Guard members by an Afghan immigrant. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast so it shows up in your feeds, and catch up on recent episodes.👊

Happy giving,

JL

P.S. A paid subscriber wrote to me through the form on my website, saying she couldn’t figure out how to message me here. I’ve heard you! Here’s a message me button:
