U.S. administrations have agreed that Iran must not get a nuclear weapon. Biden made this clear, and Trump has not changed the policy. The threat is very real, and would be horrific for democracies everywhere. Please sign this petition. News agencies are going wild over the release of Mohsen Mahdawi, one of the leaders of the vicious antisemitic hate movement that has overtaken Columbia University. In the media’s telling, he’s “peaceful” and just criticizing Israel’s actions.

Not so fast. This week’s episode of They Stand Corrected focuses on him, and on detailed fact checking done by an independent journalist in the UK, David Collier.

The media should emphasize the importance of due process while also telling you the truth. But for today’s big news organizations, that’s too much to ask.

David explains what he looked at and found in very little time through basic fact checking that the media doesn’t do. One of his major sources is a far-left organization. He explains why.

Among the morsels in here: “It is simply impossible for that statement to be true… We know 100% for sure that Mohsen is spinning a story… You can see that this person is a manipulator who picks his audience… He might be talking about Narnia. It's crazy that any journalist has looked at this person and taken him seriously.”

See his write-up and thread on X, which take you through details. He explains that Mahdawi couldn’t even accept peaceful calls for the release of the Bibas babies, who ultimately were slaughtered by Palestinian terrorists.

David has also noted that another independent journalist, Eitan Fischberger, also looked into Mahdawi, with similar findings.

David and I discuss why this issue is so significant in the fight for democracy. “If the left were looking at this and we were talking about people who were white, who were talking in English, they would start associating or, am I dealing with far-right nationalists here? There's something really twisted about the way that somehow the Palestinian cause has become embedded in the left.”

Take the New York Times for example. In their coverage of Mahdawi’s release, the paper repeatedly quoted people describing him as only wanting peace, with no mentions of his actual record of celebrating terrorists who slaughter Jews. The Times report also included this, citing a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security.

“When you advocate for violence, glorify and support terrorists that relish the killing of Americans and harass Jews, that privilege should be revoked and you should not be in this country,” Ms. McLaughlin said, without offering any evidence to support her accusations.

The evidence is plentiful, as you’ll hear in this episode — and it’s the Times’ responsibility to tell you that. But of course they don’t. The Times gave up on legitimate journalism long ago. Reminder: Drop your subscriptions to news agencies that are failing you!
