Now that the One Big (true) Beautiful (nope) Bill is law, the media will inundate you with confusing, and often contradictory, claims about how it will affect your life.
This is a strong example of how actual fact checking is different from what the media does. News agencies are citing claims from other organizations. To really fact check, I need to go further, looking into the methods those agencies use and their track records for accuracy. Expect an episode about this soon.
But here’s something you can do right now to get started on learning facts:
USAFacts has launched a one-stop portal for information about the bill, taxes, spending, and things Americans rely on. You’ll learn:
Who pays no federal income tax?
Who takes SALT deductions?
How many Americans count on Medicaid?
How many are projected to lose health insurance?
How many Americans rely on government assistance?
and more.
Thanks to a sponsored partnership, if you visit USAFacts at this unique link, you’ll be helping to support They Stand Corrected. But only for a limited time.
Big love,
JL
P.S. Paid subscribers: Send me your questions and comments about the bill here. I’ll answer them on the show.
